Summer Dylan is a chess journalist, filmmaker and top coach that has been teaching students for over 20 years and playing chess for over 25 years. She is currently ranked as an Candidate Master (Expert) which makes them ranked about the top 2% in the US. She won the U2100 section at the 2016 National Open and scored in the top 25 in the 2015 US Open. She has edited SCCF's Rank & File magazine and a contributor to American Chess Magazine and US Chess through Chess Life online. She attended the University of Illinois at Chicago and holds a B.S. in Biological Sciences. While in college, She worked with National Master Ilya K. teaching chess to students in Chicago. After college, She moved to Los Angeles with their wife. In Los Angeles, She worked for a major non-profit and built a chess program with over 4000 students a year. She has a goal to reach many more students and instill in them a love of the royal game!
